Moana (2026): Recreating the Story of Moana Through Live-Action Version

Currently, there is no official information about the production of “Moana 3” scheduled for release in 2026. However, Disney has announced plans to make a live-action version of the original “Moana” film, scheduled for release on July 10, 2026.

This live-action version will be directed by Thomas Kail, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returning as Maui. Catherine Laga’aia, a young Australian actress of Samoan descent, will take on the role of Moana. In addition, other actors such as John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen will also participate in important roles.

Regarding the music, Mark Mancina, who composed the music for the original animated film, will return to take on the score for the live-action version. Notably, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who composed the songs for the original film, will also be joining the project after missing out on “Moana 2” due to scheduling conflicts.

So, the news of a “Moana 3” in 2026 is currently unfounded. Instead, fans can expect a live-action version of “Moana” to be released that year, offering a new perspective on the sea adventure story.
