The Alarm Changes Everything
The alarm echoed through every room.
Harper jumped so hard that her phone almost slipped from her hand. The two movers stopped in the hallway and looked around.
“What is going on?” one of them asked.
“I… I don’t know,” Harper answered, trying to stay calm.
Then a voice came from the security speaker.
“Warning. The homeowner has reported an unauthorized move. Security is on the way.”
At first, Harper laughed nervously.
“This has to be a mistake.”
However, nobody else was smiling.
The movers quietly stepped away from the stairs.
Meanwhile, I watched everything through the security cameras on my phone.
Liam Rushes Home
Only a few minutes later, Harper called Liam.
“Liam, come home now! The alarm went off. The movers won’t touch anything.”
Soon, Liam rushed through the front door.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know!” Harper said. “Everything was fine until the alarm started.”
One of the movers folded his arms.
“Sir, we can’t move anything without the owner’s permission.”
“But I’m her son,” Liam replied.
The mover shook his head.
“That doesn’t matter. We need approval from the owner.”
Liam looked at Harper, hoping she had an answer.
Instead, she looked even more worried than he was.
Security Takes Control
Moments later, two security officers arrived.
One officer looked around the living room before speaking.
“Who hired the moving company?”
Harper slowly raised her hand.
“I did.”
“Did the homeowner ask you to do that?”
Harper hesitated.
“We were just trying to help her.”
“But we wanted it to be a surprise.”
The officer nodded.
“I understand. However, the homeowner says she never gave permission.”
The room became very quiet.
Even the movers stayed silent.
An Unexpected Visitor
Then another car pulled into the driveway.
Daniel Mercer stepped out with a folder in his hand.
He walked inside and greeted everyone politely.
“Good afternoon.”
Then he handed a set of papers to Liam.
“What is this?” Liam asked.
“Your mother asked me to deliver these today,” Daniel replied.
Liam quickly looked at the first page.
His face lost all its color.
“What does this mean?”
“It means,” Daniel said calmly, “your mother has canceled your access to this house. From today, you may not enter the property unless she invites you.”
Harper stared at him.
“You can’t be serious.”
“I am,” Daniel answered.
The Truth Finally Comes Out
Liam looked from the papers to the security officers.
“There must be some mistake.”
Daniel slowly shook his head.
“There is no mistake.”
“Years ago, your father placed this home in a protected family trust.”
“Your mother is the only person who decides who may live here.”
Harper’s confidence disappeared.
Only that morning, she had planned where my bed would go.
Now she wasn’t even allowed to stay inside the house.
Meanwhile, I watched the entire scene from hundreds of miles away.
For the first time in years, I felt completely at peace.
They thought they were taking my home.
Instead, they had just shown me exactly who they really were.
